Los Angeles Times – Alt comedy as the new mainstream (August 30, 2009)

There’s a well-worn path: Take classes at UCB. Assemble an improv group and a sketch team. Perform at UCB’s “Spank” on Wednesdays and “Not Too Shabby” on Fridays, at Tre Stage’s “Crashbar” and Sierra Stage’s “Tuesday Night Thunder.” Then corral some friends to film your sketches and post them on YouTube.

LAist – Recession Obsession: Live Comedy (April 2, 2009)

Crashbar Improv Every Thursday night 8pm, $5 will get you in the door for five improv teams and one stand up comic. Beer and water is available ‘by donation’, which usually = cheap as hell.
